August 2009 Issue 7
A
Little Piece of History
Hail
SubHubbers!
Did
you know that the month of August is named after Augustus Caesar, ruler of Rome? With that in mind, get your armies out of your
sleevies, and get busy with your SubHub website, so you too can enjoy success!
To
help you achieve this we have:- Provided you with a selection of new design templates, partnered with iDevAffiliate to give you powerful affiliate tracking and written
a handy hint on how to optimize your site for the search engines.
SubHub Gossip
August has been
a bumper month for SubHub, with a big influx of new clients.
I would just
like to take a moment to welcome first timers to the newsletter and hope that
you will write in and introduce yourselves.
SubHubber
Simon, (www.kidsdancenow.com) emailed in last month. As he is an Englishman
living in the US
I sent him some English tea, to say thanks!
Have you seen this man? Evan
Rudowski, one of the co-founders of the company has gone AWOL. It is believed
that he has taken a vacation to New
York to visit his family, he even had the cheek to send us a photo!
If
you see this man, please stop and say hello - I promise he doesn't bite!
New Feature: iDevAffiliate
It
is with humility and modesty that I am pleased to announce the launch of our iDevAffiliate
integration - WE ROCK!
If
you login to your site and scroll to the bottom of the control panel, you will
see a new link titled 'iDevAffiliate'. If you click on this you will be able to
sign up for a hugely discounted SubHub/iDevAffilate package or, if you have
already purchased a package, enter your hosted iDevAffiliate ID to get started
immediately.
Design Templates
In
our office we often refer to ourselves as style gurus, and I am sure you would
agree with this if you have ever seen our team photograph!
We
have recently been inspired to release eight snazzy new design templates. Take
a look in your control panel to see what you think.
We
are going to continue to update the design templates, so if you have any
suggestions, just throw them over the fence.
Let's get to know you
Here
at SubHub we believe in being ghost-like in our transparency. That is why we
have created multiple ways in which you can have your say. We aren't only
interested in your thoughts on SubHub but in what is going on in your lives.
Join us over at one or more of these groups and let's
share our stories!
Monthly
Handy Hint #7 - What's In A Name?
To help you
achieve Caesar-like status, you need to rally the search engines.
To make your
site more attractive to search engines have you changed your shortnames on your
categories and articles?
'No' I hear you
cry! Well, just follow the steps below:
- Create a category or an article and
make sure you publish it
- Click to edit the category or
article
- An extra option will now appear,
under the title field. It will look a little like this:
- Click the 'Change Shortname' link
- I would recommend you copy the
title of the category or article and paste it into the 'New shortname'
field
- Replace any spaces in the text with
dashes '-'.
- Click 'Save' and the shortname will
be saved
- If you click on 'Return to
category' you will get taken to the published page and, Voilà, you can see the URL for the page
has changed!
For us to become the SubHub of your dreams, please
tell us what we can do to improve our service, just drop me an email and I will be sure to respond.
Farewell!
